Our Mission

GodisStillSpeaking2Our mission is reflected in the Statement of Faith of the United Church of Christ.  We believe in God as a triune being and we give ourselves in worship and work to be the Church that God calls us to be.  We believe that God calls us to "accept the cost and joy of discipleship, to be (God's) servants in the service of others, to proclaim the gospel to all the world, to resist the powers of evil, to share in Christ's baptism and eat at his table, and to join (Christ) in his passion and victory."

We believe that as we give ourselves to this part of the Christian life, God promises us in return "forgiveness of sins and fullness of grace, courage in the struggle for justice and peace, (God's) presence in trial and rejoicing, and eternal life in (God's) realm which has no end."

We are a connectional church and we work with others in the United Church of Christ to fulfill our mission in the world.  We belong to the Heart of Texas Association that has churches scattered from Austin and San Antonio to past Brenham.  Our Association meets twice yearly to decide what we discern is needed for ministry in our area.  We belong to the South Central Conference of the United Church of Christ.  Our Conference has over 80 churches that are as far west as the Texas Panhandle and as far east as New Orleans, Louisiana.  Our Conference meets yearly to do the business of the Conference and to plan ministry for the future.  We belong to our national denomination, the United Church of Christ, with over 1 million members across the United States.  Our church headquarters is located in Cleveland, Ohio.  You can learn more about it at www.ucc.org.
